What is a Letter of Authorization and why do I need one?
A Letter of Authorization, or LOA, as we like to call it, is a form required by phone number carriers to authorize the transfer of your number. You need this form because it is the ownership verification for your number to move to a new service provider.
The Letter of Authorization (LOA) will be available for you in your online account after you have initiated the port request to your account. You can download the form as a PDF.
Then, you’ll need to complete the form with the information that is on file with your current service provider.
Make sure to autograph the bottom line or else we will not be able to submit the form.
Important Note:
The information on your LOA must match what is on file with your current provider. And, it must be signed by the current owner.
Common Questions about LOAs
I purchased a number from someone else. What do I do?
If you just purchased a number from someone else and want to port into your name with NumberBarn, you’ll still need to have the owner of the phone number complete and sign the Letter of Authorization. Make sure the details on the form match what is on file with their current provider. Once you port the number to NumberBarn, the number will be updated to your name.
I need to return my signed form. How do I do this?
You will return the signed form to us via email (support@numberbarn.com) or fax ((919) 999-3807). While we appreciate a good love letter, no snail mail is accepted.
I need to sign my form. What type of signature do you accept?
Your form must be signed with the name of the account holder on file with the current provider. The signature can be done with an old fashioned pen or using an e-signature tool.
